Acacia ‘Sterling Silver’ is a small ornamental wattle prized for its striking silvery-blue foliage and compact, mounded habit. In late winter to spring it produces profuse clusters of pale yellow, fluffy pea-flowers that contrast beautifully with the cool-toned foliage, providing seasonal interest and texture in the garden.

This hardy shrub is ideal for low hedging, coastal or native-style gardens, screening, mass plantings, and containers. Its compact form and attractive foliage make it an excellent choice for adding year-round colour and structure to both formal and informal plantings.

Care

Light: Prefers full sun to part shade.
Soil: Well-drained soils; tolerant of sandy and poor soils, performs well in low-nutrient conditions.
Climate: Very hardy — tolerates heat, coastal exposure, and light frost; drought-tolerant once established.
Watering: Low water requirements; water moderately until established, then only occasional deep watering in extended dry spells.
Fertilising: Low feeding needs; apply a native/suitable low-phosphorus fertiliser in spring if desired.
Pruning & Maintenance:Light pruning after flowering to maintain shape and promote bushiness; remove dead wood as required. Avoid heavy pruning into old wood.

Tulbaghia violacea ‘Society Garlic’ is a clumping, perennial evergreen with narrow, grey-green leaves and airy stems of delicate mauve to lilac flowers. Its attractive foliage, fragrant garlic-scented leaves when crushed, and long flowering season make it a versatile, low-maintenance choice for borders, mass plantings, cottage gardens, and containers.

Perfect for edging, underplanting, pollinator-friendly gardens, or mixed perennial beds. Tolerant, pest-resistant and easy to grow, it’s ideal for both home and commercial landscapes.

Care

Light: Thrives in full sun to part shade

Soil: Prefers well-drained soil; tolerates a range of soil types including sandy and loamy mixes

Climate: Performs well in warm temperate to subtropical climates; tolerates coastal conditions and light frost once established

Fertilising: Apply a balanced slow-release fertiliser in spring to support flowering

Watering: Moderate water needs; drought-tolerant once established but benefits from regular moisture in hot, dry periods

Pruning & Maintenance: Remove spent flower stalks and trim back any damaged foliage to maintain tidy clumps; divide overcrowded clumps every 3–4 years to rejuvenate

Height & Width: 40 cm tall × 25 cm wide
