Leptospermum (otherwise known as tea tree) nanum rubrum is a stunning yet versatile plant. It produces a prolific flower display of deep red to burgundy during winter to spring. The foliage is a lovely burgundy/ruby colour making it a real standout against other plants. This evergreen shrub has a compact, dwarf growth habit making it ideal as a low hedge or a perfect addition to water-wise gardens. This variety is a real feature when in flower.
Care
Plant Leptospermum nanum rubrum in an area of full sun to semi shade with well draining soils. Leptospermum nanum rubrum is low maintenance. Prune after flowering as this will encourage dense new growth. Use a suitable mulch to prevent weed growth and to retain soil moisture.
