Ficus hillii ‘Flash’ is an evergreen, upright Australian/Asian fig cultivar with glossy, lance-shaped leaves and a neat, columnar to oval habit. Its dense foliage and clean form make it an excellent choice for screening, hedging, street planting, topiary, or large containers.
Perfect for formal hedges, privacy screens, avenue planting, or specimen trees in suburban and commercial landscapes.
Care
Light: Best in full sun to part shade
Soil: Prefers well-drained, fertile soils; tolerates a range from loam to clay if drainage is good
Climate: Withstands heat, urban conditions and coastal exposure; tolerates light to moderate frost once established
Fertilising: Apply a balanced slow-release fertiliser in spring (and mid-summer for potted specimens)
Watering: Moderate water needs; water regularly until established, then deep watering during extended dry spells
Pruning & Maintenance: Responds well to pruning — trim to shape or maintain hedge height; remove inner branches to improve air circulation if dense
Height & Width: 6–10 m tall × 2–4 m wide (size varies with pruning and root space)
