Also known as the Waratah, Telopea speciosissima is the floral emblem of NSW.

The evergreen shrub/small tree has dark green, lobed leaves and striking, bright red flowers, which are produced in spring.

It makes for a superb cut flower and a lovely ornamental plant.

Care 

Will thrive in a sunny to partly shaded position. Requires excellent drainage, but good moisture content. Prune heavily after flowering to maintain compact growth.
